CATHOLIC BISHOP

11:00 a.m.
Saturday, September 6, 2008
Saint Peter Claver Center for Evangelization
12th & Lombard Streets
Philadelphia, PA 19147

This Mass commemorates the ministry of Saint Peter Claver, a 17th
century missionary who dedicated his life to serving African Americans.

The main celebrant and homilist for the Mass will be Most Reverend
Sheton J. Fabre, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Bishop Fabre was ordained in 2007 and is the youngest of the African
American Catholic Bishops. His episcopal motto is "Comfort My People",
which he lives as he serves the city that was devastated by Hurricane
Katrina. Bishop Fabre will be joined at Mass by Most Reverend Joseph
Cistone and Most Reverend Robert Maginnis, Auxiliary Bishops of
Philadelphia and many priests and deacons. The Knights of Peter Claver
and the Ladies Auxiliary will also join the procession.

The Mass will take place in the Historic Saint Peter Claver Church,
known as the "Mother Church for Black Catholics" in Philadelphia and was
dedicated in 1892.
